Type locality: Wadelai, Uganda
Diagnosis
Mature male is similar to B. wilsoni by (a) wings orange to dark amber at base, without dark postnodal bands; (b) no cell-doublings in radial planate of all wings, although rarely 1 or 2; (c) Abd red. However, differs by (1) smaller size, Hw 22-25 mm; (2) orange on wings with sharply demarcated distal border, extends well beyond Ax3 and triangle. [Adapted from Dijkstra & Clausnitzer 2014]
Habitat description
Mostly rivers, but also streams, standing waters and large lakes, in open landscapes or sometimes shaded by gallery forest. Often with emergent vegetation and a sandy and/or soft (like muddy) bottom. From 0 to 1800 m above sea level, but mostly below 1100.
