Diagnosis
Male differs from other Diplacodes species by (1) greater size, Hw 25-31 mm; (2) face, thorax and Abd base red with maturity; (3) Hw base broad and rectangular (rather than narrower and rounded), orange about to triangle. [Adapted from Dijkstra & Clausnitzer 2014]
Habitat description
Standing and often temporary waters in open landscapes, but sometimes shaded by gallery forest. Usually with emergent vegetation. From 0 to 2100 m above sea level, but mostly below 1600, although possibly up to 2400.
